Dave Vitkay and Chazz Walton Dominate at Legacy 47

In an exciting night of fights that produced seven out of seven finishes in its main card, Legacy 47, held on Oct. 16 in Atlanta, saw impressive performances from some of the finest fighters out of KnuckleUp Fitness.

Vitkay dominates at 170 to continue winning streak

Dave Vitkay bested Wesley Barnes in the co-main event over two exciting rounds of action. Vitkay took the first round with some solid takedowns, submission attempts and clean punches late in the round. Similarly, the second round belonged to the A-Town Ogre with his typical quick-paced action. Barnes looked a little sluggish in round two and toward the end of it, with Vitkay on top punching Barnes in the ribs.

Between the second and third rounds, Barnes informed the cage side doctor he had suffered a rib injury and could not continue. Vitkay was declared the winner via retirement at 5:00 of the second round.

Vitkay stated in a post-fight interview that, “I’m on a six-fight winning streak and no one is taking that from me.” A professional fighter since 2002, Vitkay increases his record to 16-12 with the win.

Legacy President Mick Maynard, in a post-fight interview, stated that he feels Vitkay is destined for bigger promotions. “Dave’s on another level. Honestly, he’s reached the highest levels. Personally, I’d like to see Dave in the UFC; second, I’d like to see him in Bellator. As far as career goes, I’d like to see him in one of those two organizations.”

Walton dazzles with precise submission finish

In the opening fight to the Legacy 47 main card, KnuckeUp’s Chazz Walton served up some fast and furious action to opponent Joshua Millwood. Walton landed a left hook and a right cross and slammed his opponent to the canvas, landing in full mount. Walton stayed on Millwood’s attempt to roll, and locked on a body triangle, sinking in a “you’re not going anywhere” rear-naked choke. After delivering a few solid punches to Millwood’s head for good measure while in the choke, Walton wins via submission at 1:08 in the first round.

Walton improves his professional record to 3-0 in spectacular fashion.

Sprayberry shows promise

By all accounts, Nick Sprayberry put on a solid showing at Legacy 47 dominating the first round until just a few seconds shy of the bell when he attempted an aggressive takedown against opponent Josh Blyden, getting caught in guillotine, which forced the tap at 4:26.

Sprayberry’s professional record currently stands at 2-2.

Tubbs defeats Mandio in undercard showing

KnuckleUp’s Devorious Tubbs bested opponent Patrick Mandio at 189 lbs. over three rounds, walking away with a unanimous decision victory and improving his professional record to 2-0.
